VLC - MetroX by Maverick07x VLC - MetroX by Maverick07x
MetroX skin for the VLC Media Player in six different colors
(based on my MetroX skin for J.River Media Center)

-----------

(28.12.2012) Release 1.0
...
(27.06.2014) Update 2.3.2: decreased memory usage by half / optimized fullscreen mode
(03.07.2014) Update 2.4.0: redesigned background + playlist / white color theme instead of mint
(28.07.2014) Update 2.5.0: white + black menu background / each .vlt file has its own color

-----------

Installation:
1. Extract the .vlt file to ...VideoLAN/VLC/skins
2. Start VLC => Preferences => Check to custom skin

-----------

Hint:
The background is just a dummy and does not display your actual library - i just took the most common album arts / posters
(max. recommended resolution: 2560 x 1440)

-----------

Bugs:
If the video frame doesn't seems right, switch to fullscreen and back to windowed mode

-----------

Hint:
If you can't see the control buttons because the videos are bigger than the screen resultion this should help:
- Preferences -> Interface Settings -> Look & Feel
- Switch to "Use native style"
- Uncheck "Resize interface to video size"
- Switch back to "Use custom skin"
Save and close.

Hint2:
Fullscreen buttons won't appear after you change a custom skin.
Restarting VLC should help.

Great Skin. Just one problem on my end - when I go into Fullscreen mode, the play, fast forward and fast reverse buttons shift to the left and overlap the video's current and total time as well as the main menu button making them difficult to see and use. Any idea on how to fix this?

Well that looks strange - i just updated the skin, maybe the problem will not appear anymore.
If it still does, try this:
Switch to a different skin (not MetroX) - Close VLC
Start VLC - switch the MetroX skin - Close it again
Now play a video file and see if the problem is still existent

I love this skin it is fantastic, simple and elegant
But could you please bring back the cyan/blue theme and perhaps again provide the option to enlarge progress bar
I really liked the blue theme

Hi!

Do you plan to make a lightweight version of this skin? I would love to see it really trimmed, with no options, only the essentials, so:

1. No left menu etc.
2. The button with "..." that opened that left menu could open Playlist directly.
3. No second color, leaving only cyan. The less the better.
4. No topbar.

I was trying to do it by myself in the editor but unfortunately it turned out to be much more complicated than I thought.

no sorry, not planing it - but i just released a light version of the skin => bright menu + less memory usage because of only one color
maybe you like that more

to nr. 4: well you dont have to use the topbar :P

ye its not really easy - easiest thing is to open the .xml file via notepad editor and removing objects and see what happens

Dear,

Album art work looks very small as an image , is there a way that whenever i play any mp3 file , it will adjust cover album art picture like what vlc does with auto resizing for videos according to the quality , i never saw this feature anywhere still ! , hopefully there will be a way to do that ! or at least just to make it elegant when you play any mp3 file which has album art tagged.
